What Happened??

For those who are just hearing this very sad news, I wanted to give a short synopsis of what I know.
Collin had begun his "vacation" on the plane ride down to Ft. Myers. He was going to see friends and family during his week long stay. He had been drinking and taking prescription drugs. This continued thru Tuesday and into Tuesday night. Tuesday evening Collin passed out on a sofa, and with the excessive combination of drugs and alcohol in his system, his system began shutting down. Basically his lungs and then other organs stopped working and he was dead by the morning. The coroner said it was "Pulmonary Edema". It seems that our sons and daughters have a notion of invincibility when it comes to what drugs can do.

We were all incredibly shaken by the unbelievably sad news of Collin's passing- it wasn't suppose to happen for another 75 yrs. We will hold the precious memories of the past 20 yrs that you blessed us with very closely in our hearts. I especially feel grateful that you shared some time with us that weekend at the cabin over the summer this year, thank you Collin, you were rich in love by family & friends- you will be deeply missed. Say hi to Kirby for us up there. Love always, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Dean and your cousins, Evan & Chad Peterson

Adele called to tell me what had happened. I am so sorry that something like this had to happen to a great family like yours. Pleas know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Steve you are right about the fact that our kids think they are invicible when it comes to drugs and drinking as well. I hope that if anything can come out of this it is that it helped someone wake up and realize they are not invincible.
I know these days are difficult but you have the love and support of many friends and family members to help you get thru this.
